OA02.03. Nutrient biomarker patterns and rates of cognitive decline in dementia-free elders
نویسندگان
چکیده
Results Mean age was 87±10, 62% were female, and 10% were carrying the ApoEe4 allele. Two distinct nutrient biomarker patterns were associated with rates of cognitive decline: a vitamin pattern high in B, C, E and D (p=0.001) and a high trans fat pattern (p<0.001) associated with less and more decline over two years, respectively. These findings were independent of age, gender, education years, ApoEe4 carrier status and vascular risk factors.

Nutrient biomarker patterns, cognitive function, and MRI measures of brain aging.
OBJECTIVE To examine the cross-sectional relationship between nutrient status and psychometric and imaging indices of brain health in dementia-free elders. METHODS Thirty plasma biomarkers of diet were assayed in the Oregon Brain Aging Study cohort (n = 104). Principal component analysis constructed nutrient biomarker patterns (NBPs) and regression models assessed the relationship of these wi...
متن کاملThe dementia and disability project in Thai elderly: rational, design, methodology and early results
BACKGROUND A strong inverse relationship of functional limitation and socioeconomic status has been established in western ageing society. Functional limitation can be related to chronic diseases, disuse, cognitive decline, and ageing. Among chronic diseases in the Thai population, cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes, and arthritis are common. These factors are known to contribute to disability ...
متن کاملLongitudinal Detection of Dementia Through Lexical and Syntactic Changes in Writing
Studies of language in dementia have concluded that, along with a general cognitive decline, linguistic features are also negatively affected. Studies of the language of healthy elders also observe a linguistic decline, but one which, in contrast, is markedly less severe than that induced by dementia. In this paper, we examine whether the disease can be detected from the diachronic changes in w...
متن کاملP 62: Markers of Neuroinflammation Related to Alzheimer\'s Disease Pathology in the Elderly
Alzheimer Disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder and the most common form of dementia. Increasing evidence suggests that Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis is not restricted to the neuronal compartment, but includes strong interactions with immunological mechanisms in the brain. In vitro and animal studies have linked neuroinflammation to Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology. Studies on marke...
متن کاملDisturbed sleep patterns in elders with mild cognitive impairment: the role of memory decline and ApoE ε4 genotype.
Sleep disturbances are prevalent in patients with Alzheimer' disease (AD), being one of the most troubling symptoms during the progression of disease. However, little research has been made to determine if impaired sleep patterns appear years before AD diagnosis. This study tries to shed light on this issue by performing polysomnographic recordings in healthy elders and patients with mild cogni...
